Darryl E. Freling is a co-founder and Managing Principal of MedProperties Holdings, LLC. Mr. Freling oversees the overall operations and financial management of MedProperties and its related funds, as well as the sourcing, structuring and execution of MedProperties related investments. Mr. Freling is member of MedProperties Investment Committee and Management Committee.
Mr. Freling has 29 years of experience in the areas of both corporate and real estate investment (private and public), real estate development and management, complex business structures, and finance.
From 1997 until 2001, Mr. Freling worked as Senior Director of Acquisitions for Mack-Cali Realty Corporation, a NYSE listed office real estate investment trust. Prior to Mack-Cali, Mr. Freling joined Patriot American Hospitality, Inc. and Patriot American Office Group in February 1996, where he was involved in the real estate acquisition and merger activities of both companies, including the merger of Patriot American Office Group into Mack-Cali in 1997.
Mr. Freling holds a Juris Doctor and Masters in Business Administration from the University of Texas School of Law, and the University of Texas Graduate School of Business, respectively.
Henry Horowitz has over 40 years of extensive experience in management of start-ups and established firms in medical and retail real estate industry.
Currently, Mr. Horowitz is Principal and Managing Partner of Oxford Capital Partners, LLC, a real estate investment firm focused on acquisitions and development of shopping centers in the Southwest and Southeast, a firm he co-founded in 1998. In an addition, Mr. Horowitz is a Managing Principal of MedProperties Holdings, LLC, a private equity fund firm based in Dallas, TX specializing in the ownership of medical services and health care facilities in several states.
During 2000, Mr. Horowitz was President of RealtiCorp, a commercial land investment fund specializing in low risk arbitrage primarily in the Southeastern area of the United States. During the period from 1993 to 2000, Mr. Horowitz served in various executive management roles with Insignia Financial Group, Inc., one of the largest real estate companies in the world . He was President of Insignia Commercial Group, Inc., Chief Operating Officer of Insignia/ESG, Inc. and Executive Managing Director of Insignia Financial Group. In addition, he served on the company's executive management, investment and compensation committees. He was instrumental in founding the commercial real estate operations for the company and taking its real estate portfolio from 2 million square feet to 225 million square feet throughout United States and Europe .
Prior to Insignia Financial Group, Mr. Horowitz co-founded First Resource Group, Inc., a regional real estate firm providing real estate services for a 7 million sq. ft. retail and office portfolio in Oklahoma and Texas. The firm was subsequently acquired by Insignia Financial Group in 1993.
Mr. Horowitz is Chairman of South Carolina State Arts Commission Board, Chairman Emeritus and Founder of Artisphere International Festival, Member of Bon Secours Health System Board, Member of Wells Fargo Bank South Carolina Regional Advisory Board and President of Charity Ball Board of Directors, SC.
He holds a BBA degree from Bernard Baruch School of Public and Business Administration and a MBA from NYU.
Michael Horowitz is a co-founder and Managing Principal of MedProperties Holdings, LLC. Mr. Horowitz's responsibilities focus on the pre-investment evaluation, and post closing asset management of, the firms portfolio investments, particularly in regards to development and construction related matters, as well as on the sourcing and evaluation of special projects. Mr. Horowitz is a member of MedProperties Investment Committee and Management Committee.
Prior to co-founding MedProperties, Mr. Horowitz co-founded and served as a Managing Principal of Oxford Capital Partners, LLC, an investment firm focused on acquisitions and development of shopping centers in the southwestern and southeastern United States. Mr. Horowitz was responsible for directing overall acquisitions investment strategy.
Prior to forming Oxford, in 1993, Mr. Horowitz founded Insignia Commercial Investments Group, Inc. ("ICIG"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Insignia Financial Group, Inc., organized to acquire, develop and redevelop commercial real estate funded by Insignia and its co-investment partners. During Mr. Horowitz's tenure, ICIG and its parent acquired and developed over $600 million of retail, industrial and office properties nationally.
Mr. Horowitz was also a co-founder and served as an Executive Managing Director of Insignia Commercial Group, Inc., a large national multi-disciplined commercial real estate platform.
Mr. Horowitz is a member of the American Society of Real Estate Counselors and holds a Counselor of Real Estate designation. Mr. Horowitz holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma.
Roman Kupchynsky is a co-founder and Managing Principal of MedProperties Holdings, LLC. Mr. Kupchynsky oversees MedProperties' legal affairs, and he focuses on the healthcare regulatory and industry related concerns pertaining to underwriting MedProperties related portfolio investments. Mr. Kupchynsky is member of MedProperties Investment Committee and Management Committee.
Mr. Kupchynsky practiced law for almost 28 years, and prior to co-founding MedProperties, he was a partner with the law firm of Gardere Wynne Sewell, LLP where he remains in an "of counsel" position.
As an attorney, Mr. Kupchynsky advised on and structured a number of healthcare real estate projects including the Jack and Jane Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital at Baylor University Medical Center, Frisco Medical Center, Plano Presbyterian Surgical Hospital and numerous ambulatory surgery centers, long term acute care hospitals, imaging centers and catheterization laboratory transactions around the United States.
In the course of his legal practice, Mr. Kupchynsky gained extensive experience in representing and advising various healthcare entities such as large hospitals, specialty hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and large physician groups on formation, financing, mergers and acquisition issues and healthcare regulatory matters.
Mr. Kupchynsky has a Bachelor of Arts degree, and a Juris Doctorate degree, from Southern Methodist University.
Eric Minor is Managing Director of MedProperties Holdings, LLC. Mr. Minor plays an integral role in the underwriting of potential investments made by MedProperties and his responsibilities include portfolio management and investor relations. His duties include financial analysis, due diligence, acquisitions/dispositions, fund management, and fund reporting.
Prior to joining MedProperties, Mr. Minor worked at a Dallas-based real estate development, management, and investment firm specializing in the healthcare industry. Mr. Minor's real estate career also includes asset management responsibilities at UBS Realty Investors (UBS). Prior to UBS, Mr. Minor served in property management roles as a supervisor of a portfolio consisting of multifamily and office assets.
Mr. Minor received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from The University of Texas and a Master's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Real Estate from Southern Methodist University.
Mrs. Sawyer is Director of Asset Management for MedProperties Holdings, LLC, and is responsible for directing the asset management of fund related portfolio investments.
Prior to joining MedProperties, Mrs. Sawyer was a Transaction Manager at CBRE, Inc. In that position, she participated in lease and contract negotiations, underwriting, and the development of Bank of America's retail acquisitions including banking centers and ATMs in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. Prior to working as an agent for Bank of America, Mrs. Sawyer was an Asset Manager on the Global Corporate Services account servicing the FDIC. During that time she was responsible for the analysis, restructuring, management, and disposition strategies of a $200 million CRE portfolio of REO assets including land, retail, medical, and multi-family in a variety of markets in the US.
Mrs. Sawyer received a BBA in Real Estate and Marketing from Baylor University, and is a licensed Real Estate Broker in Texas.
Lynda Hamer, based in the Greenville, SC office, is an Assistant to Henry Horowitz and is responsible for MedProperties entities' Accounts Payable and Receivable, tax compliance and investor communications.
In addition, Lynda coordinates financial reporting with MedProperties CFO and assists the Dallas office with various projects.
Her background includes over 25 years in a Commercial Real Estate environment, including property management and brokerage areas of large real estate companies including Insignia Financial Group and Oxford Capital Partners.
Will Suttle is the Director of Finance at MedProperties Holdings, LLC, and is responsible for the firm’s accounting, reporting, auditing, strategic tax planning and compliance, treasury management, regulatory compliance, lender compliance, as well as overall policy development for reporting and internal controls.
Prior to joining MedProperties, Mr. Suttle was the Chief Accounting Officer at Dundon Capital Partners and managed the accounting, tax, treasury and cash flow forecasting and compliance for a $2.0 billion privately held portfolio of real estate assets as well as the controlling interests in operating companies. Prior to Dundon Capital, Mr. Suttle was a Controller at Lantern Asset Management, LLC as well as previously holding positions within Hudson Advisors/Lone Star Funds, Tenet Healthcare Corporation, and Deloitte & Touche, LLP.
Mr. Suttle received a BBA in Finance as well as a BBA in Accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and has been a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Texas since 2001.
Samuel Clark is an Analyst for MedProperties Holdings, LLC. Mr. Clark assists in the underwriting and asset management of investments made by Medproperties. His roles also include disposition analysis, reporting, and performance analytics.
Prior to joining MedProperties, Mr. Clark was a Financial Analyst at CBRE for Baylor Scott & White Healthcare. In that position, he was primarily responsible for analyzing prospective acquisition and disposition, and the development of various healthcare facilites.
Mr. Clark holds a BBA in Financial Consulting from Southern Methodist University.
